The allotment of 100
acres of forestland to the Amarnath Shrine Board for construction of
temporary structures for nearly half a million pilgrims in Kashmir and
the subsequent abrupt revocation of this decision has rightly provoked
strong indignation among Hindus all over the world, particularly in
Jammu & Kashmir State. This decision is in sharp contrast to the manner
in which the State and the Central Indian Governments treat religious
minorities, especially Muslims whose shrines across India are taken care
of so well, even their Haj pilgrimages are subsidized, and Haj terminals
built at airports.
In the words of the former governor, J&K, Mr.Jagmohan, the significance of the Amarnath Yatra goes far beyond the personal as it extends to the much larger issue of cultural unity and vision of India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Kathiawar to Kamrup. Its great and historic importance is that it is an integrating force. The Amarnath issue, therefore, is not limited to Hindus of Jammu or of Kashmir Valley, but to all of us. The time has come when some direct action is required. The need to come together is being felt very strongly by the world Hindu community through one organization, which will serve the Global Hindu community. The goal is to fight for our rights! Kuldeep Kumar Dogra, Ramesh Chander, Narinder Sharma, Manjeet Singh and Sanjeev Singh have already sacrificed their lives for us. We need to support their families and many others who are injured, lying in hospitals and fighting for the honor and dignity of the age-old Hindu culture. Support Amarnath delegation will be leaving for Jammu at their own cost within next 10 days to assess the situation and help in the relief efforts in Jammu.
